Island Games First Aid
We are proud to be involved in raising awareness of the incredible support St John Ambulance Jersey is giving to the NatWest Island Games 2015.
For more than 12 months, the charity has been working closely with Games’ organisers to ensure first aid cover will be available at every venue and event, as well as training 124 Waitrose Games Makers in the Emergency and Basic First Aid course.
With the Island Games stretching over a week, including the opening and closing ceremonies, committed and skilled teams from St John Ambulance Jersey will be providing more than 2000 hours of volunteer first aid cover at up to 15 venues per day. This equates to at least 260 hours per day of volunteer time. This is all provided on a voluntary basis and equates to thousands of pounds worth of first aid cover at no cost to the Island.
St John Ambulance Jersey enables more than 150 events to happen in Jersey each year, involving thousands of voluntary hours and significant operational cost, which is funded entirely from private donations. Every year, the Jersey charity has to raise £650,000 in order to continue providing life-saving cover and training for Jersey residents and businesses.
